Panel 1 looks so much better than my usual backgrounds. Because it's another traced photo. The problem is that usually I go with a public domain picture, but I couldn't find a public domain picture of the alleyway depicted. This is from Google Maps Street View. It's possible I'll replace this panel's image later, at least for the possible print release. Still, residents of Redding can recognize this area, even though I took the words off that sign. Said sign is in actuality for Damburger, one of the oldest businesses in Redding, so named because it was the burger joint that opened when Shasta Dam was being built. That big blue square there? It's actually a Pepsi logo in reality. I obviously didn't want to include especially such branding in my comic when I haven't been sponsored (see my Shedds and Peasant instead of Barnes and Noble back in issue 4 for another way I worked around things).

But panel 3 is porbably what strikes people's eyes the most. Pretty gorey, I understand, but I didn't want to pull punches in showing just what can be the fate when one is attacked by the villainous member of the Protectors. It's called stakes, and an understanding of why said character is not innocent in any way.
