Dangerous territory that Mineral and Rearranger are treading here, being openly affectionate. Yeah, they don't kiss, but the 40s were a time when being gay was still illegal. They're lucky that Captain Marvel doesn't seem to notice. Really, it's the doctor I'm more worried about because, despite attitudes of the time, I like to think heroes like Captain Marvel would be more okay with people just being who they are. Either way, I tend to think Billy and the doctor just take this as two good friends. People can surely be oblivious to people being gay sometimes.

But I mention Manzanar here because it's important to me to acknowledge. While we didn't go to the extremes Germany did, in World War II, the US did put people in concentration camps. It's a horrible and inhumane thing to do, which is all the more reason to not sweep this under the rug. People have done, and will continue to do, awful things, and especially if we don't have an ability to learn from past mistakes.
